Black Beauty Organic is a time-honored heirloom that has been grown for over 100 years. This variety produces glossy, dark purple to nearly black, oblong fruits on sturdy plants. Known for its heavy yield, each plant can produce up to 12 fruits, though it thrives best with plenty of heat. For optimal results, try growing it under a cloche or using plastic mulch to warm the soil.
 
Even without additional heat, Black Beauty is still productive in coastal gardens, yielding 8–10 fruits per plant. This variety also performs well in containers of 5 gallons or larger, with half barrels being an ideal choice.
